The famous Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is a UNESCO unfinished Roman Catholic cathedral in Barcelona. Construction started in 1882 and after the death of the architecture, Antoni Gaudi, in 1926 the basilica was no where near a quarter finished. To this date, it is still under construction and hopefully, by 2026, it will be complete.
We visited on Friday 8th March 2019 at 10AM. It was quite crowded inside and outside the basilica. It took 25 mins to get our bags scanned by security so if you're going during the summer / busy period, expect an hour wait.
Once we stepped inside, our jaws dropped. The pillars, the roof, the lighting, the layout.... the grandeur of everything was just, wow! It is definitely a magnificent sight everyone should view with their own eyes at least once in their lives.
I've uploaded a 15 sec video of inside.
You can explore the inside, sit in the area for mass, or walk around outside and underground to see minaiture models of the completed design. We highly recommend seeing this bucket list item.
