Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is considered the capital city of South Vietnam. For reference, Hanoi is the official capital of the North and all of Vietnam.
When Michael visits Vietnam, he usually stays in HCMC as his family predominantly lives there. On the other hand, I have never explored HCMC because I usually visit my family in Vinh Long (dad) and Binh Thuan (mum) so from Tuesday 9th April to Wednesday 10th April 2019, I stayed at Sunland Hotel and explored the big city.
On Tuesday night, I had a family feast with most of my elderly relatives. More food pictures HERE
Afterwards I went out to Bui Vien Street to check out the party scene. There were heaps of bars and restaurant, offering a range of traditional Vietnamese snacks, alcohol and nangs LOL
The next day, I was very hung over and had a relaxing time in the hotel's pool.
For lunch, I went to eat my favourite dish, bánh canh cua. This is tapioca noodles in a crab thickened broth, with seafood pieces.
For dinner, my family took me to a seafood restaurant that was designed for drinking. Here are some of the snails and clams they had.
That night, I flew out of Ho Chi Minh City, stopped over in Taiwan for 2 hours and then headed for Fukuoka, Japan. Thanks for reading! 😄
