As much as we love to travel, we love our home city too. We thought we'd share the favourite things we love about Sydney. If you're considering moving down under, here's a list of what to expect 😝
We know Sydney has some of the best beaches, including the famous Bondi, Coogee, Palms Beach and Manly. There is an annual free art exhibition called Sculpture by the Sea, where we head out to do the Bondi to Coogee walk while admiring art.
Along with the best beaches, Sydney is mostly sunny. Even in the middle of winter, our coldest temperatures are ~10°C. On the negative side, this means our summers are always scorching hot, with temperatures rising close to 50°C (exhibit A, the devastating Australian bushfires of 2020).
Blue mountains is famous for its blue hue and comprises a very large area of NSW. One of the things we love is going on scenic bush walks and hikes. Some of the ones we've done include:
We love going to the Fish Market and getting the freshest and creamiest seafood! Our only tip is to never feed the seagulls. They will attack and we've seen so many tourists fall for their trap.
South Coast of NSW
One of the things we enjoy is driving an hour down to Woolongong to visit our friend, Annie. There is a lot of scenic things to do there, such as visit the biggest Buddhist temple in Australia (Nan Tien, pictured above), Kiama farmers market and go on bush walks and hikes. The picture below is from Sublime Point Lookout
Archie Rose is our favourite metro distillery with the best pear gin we have ever had. For only $9, they serve their in-season gin with a fresh squeeze of pear juice. It tastes refreshing, sweet and strangely addicting. The alcohol flavour is so subtle that by our second glass, we were tipsy lol.
There is a whole suburb dedicated to the freshest and yummiest Vietnamese, Chinese, and Cambodian food. We're talking grilled snails, balut, fermented shrimp noodles... all the good foods you can only get in their home country can be found in Cabramatta. For more on our favourite places to eat HERE.
Mister Gee Burgers
Every time we've had friends from overseas visiting Sydney, we would always take them to the Mister Gee burger truck or store to get the OG truffle burger. And every single person's reaction was an orgasm after the first bite HAHA We love Mister Gee and we reckon it's one of the best burger joints in Sydney.
Vivid is the annual winter light show in the CBD. We love getting a little tipsy, heading out for the food stalls and basking in the beautiful displays so many artists had worked on all year.
Sydney has a lot of cliff views and we love to drive to one of these vantage points, admire nature and talk about life. Some of the places we've visited:
Of course it's not Sydney without a photo of the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House. What a beauty!
