We're currently planning our next Japan trip and I thought it would be nice to post our (best and well edited) photos from our trips in 2017.
Trip no. 1: 01 Feb 2017 - 26 Feb 2017
Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Nagano, Tokyo, Hiroshima
Trip no. 2: 12 Oct 2017 - 27 Oct 2017
Tokyo, Fuji, Yokohoma
The first highlight was our day trip to Hiroshima from Osaka. You can read more of it HERE
Kyoto was a very beautiful city and we had a peaceful 3 days there. Unfortunately we didn't finish the Inari Shrine hike or explored the food options here so I'm looking forward to my next trip.
Osaka is definitely my favourite city. The number of takoyaki stalls available at Doutonbori was a dream come true. I ate 112 balls in 3 days, in-between meals (No wonder I put on 5 kgs) 🤤
Recommendation for Universal Studio - get a fast pass. It made it easier for us to go on every ride and make the most of our time there. Food is expensive, like any other theme park, so stuff your face at the nearby 7/11 before going in. Our favourite ride was the Flying Dinosaur!
There were not a lot of photos here. We spent 2 full days, snowboarding on real snow (Sydney's "snow" feels like the ice rocks you find in your freezer). We spent a lot of time in our hotel where there was a private and public onsen and kaiseki for dinner.
Tip: Our hotel was traditional and Mick experienced a supernatural moment where, during the night, he woke to see my face "blank" and felt a presence grabbing his feet. A few colleagues have told us they had similar experiences in the same place so if you're a spiritual person, be wary and always knock the door, even when the room is empty.
This is the view from MyStays and you can read the full trip HERE.
We went to Fuji-Q Highlands and it was the best theme park we had been to til this date. The rides were extreme and Mick bruised his ribs on one LOL We were also too scared to go into the 1-hour-haunted-hospital ride, like fuck that! 😱 100% would go back to this theme park.
We visited Tokyo twice and there was so much to do that we would still go back again. Favourite moments include:
Mick and I did a day trip to Yokohama in October to visit the famous cup noodle museum. This is definitely worth the journey because you get to make your own instant noodle to bring home. We spent 3 hours in here.
Thank you for reading. I'll be going back soon so hopefully I can share the little secrets of Japan.
